our cottage served as the Powder River Dredging Company Office. The Powder River Dredging Company was responsible for the building and operation of the floating, mechanized gold dredge which worked in the Sumpter Valley. We recently acquired this historical treasure and we are excited to be restoring and preserving this historic house for guests who truly appreciate the historic heritage of the Powder River Cottage and Sumpter Oregon! The historic Dredge Superintendants House is next door while the Sumpter Municipal Museum is just 2 doors down! Guests can see the Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge State Park entrance as they arrive at the cottage and the Sumpter Valley Railroad Depot is also within sight of our property! Follow the trail just 100 yards down to the historic Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge from the cottage! Need supplies during your stay.....? Take a short walk to the general store.........dine out at one of our favorite local restaurants-all within walking distance! Sumpter Flea Market shoppers and vendors.....
