The Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Club is very active in the Sumpter area all year long! Many local members volunteer countless hours of time to prepare and maintain all the snowmobile trails throughout our area. And...... thanks to the Oregon State Snowmobile Association, we now have a Sno Cat Trail Groomer right here in Sumpter! Visit our Snowmobile Trail Report for weekly updates on snowmobile trail conditions and other great information regarding Sumpter Snowmobile Trails all winter! Members of the Sumpter Snowmobile Club are very active all winter with meetings and potluck dinners all leading up to the Annual Sumpter Poker Run held on Presidents' Weekend and then the Annual Club run to finish out the season. The Annual Sumpter Poker Run draws snowmobilers from all over the Northwest as well as our locals! You don't even need a snowmobile to get in on the action! Poker Run 2007 was a great success with a payout of $3,000! And everyone is invited! The Snowmobile Club meetings normally start in October and run through the final meeting of the season in April. Ride your snowmobile to the Dredge for breathtaking winter landscapes overlooking the State Park! Several park trails take off in different directions from the Sumpter Gold Dredge for snowshoers, hikers and cross-country skiers! The Sumpter Gold Dredge State Park offers a unique adventure through the historic dredge pilings which is home to local wildlife including beaver, muskrat and deer. The Dredge ponds throughout the park are usually frozen in the winter providing some beautiful scenic landscapes through which to explore and some awesome photographs to take home!
